Plane crash: 5 people die at National Burn Institute
Five people have died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the plane crash at Milestone School and College. At around 1:15 am on Monday night, the institute’s associate professor and joint director Dr. Md. Maruful Islam confirmed this information to Prothom Alo.

Maruful Islam said, “Five people have died so far among the burn victims brought to our hospital between 2 pm and 5 pm. Among them, Milestone student Tanvir (14) was declared dead by the doctor on duty soon after he was brought. The other four are school teacher Zubair (42), teacher Mahreen (46), student Afnan Fayyaz (14) and teacher Masuka. Masuka died a little after 8 pm.” The doctor said that he heard from the parents and relatives of the students who came to the hospital that the deceased teachers tried to rescue the burned students. They also got burned.
According to Maruful Islam, a total of 53 people were admitted to the National Burn Institute among those who suffered burns in Milestone. 3 have been discharged from the hospital after treatment. So far, 45 people are in the hospital. 22 of them are in critical condition. 5 more have been kept in the ICU.
At least 22 people were killed when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a building at Milestone School and College in Uttara. More than 150 were injured.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement at around 1:30 am on Monday that the bodies of 8 of the deceased have been handed over to their guardians.
